Nokia releases the first Symbian^3 phone. The Nokia N8

Nokia have officially unveiled their latest Symbian powered smartphone, the Nokia N8, and well, for new, let’s say it looks nice and shiny.
Phone specs

Though details on the Nokia touch screen phone had previously leaked, specs are now official and the Nokia N8 comes with a 12-megapixel camera and runs on the latest Symbian^3. We weren’t surprised by most of the specs the Nokia smartphone would come with, but how it would match up against its Android-powered counterparts and the Apple iPhone would be most important. Nokia have once again embraced social networking which has sort of become an industry standard, but we’re nonetheless thankful.

Nokia N8

Coming with a 3.5-inch AMOLED display with 360×640 resolution, the picture quality is impressive and Nokia seem to the have found the perfect match in Symbian^3, to really flex the N8 graphic capabilities. Everything seems to work together so well as you pinch, zoom, move objects on the display through the touch screen’s multi-touch functioning capability. The UI is pretty simple, and no one should struggle to get going with N8 given that the home screen can be fully personalised.
Video capabilities

Where Nokia have really outdone themselves is with the addition of an HD camera. This enables 720p recording and viewing on at HDTV through the phone HDMI port, and its integrated Dolby Digital Surround Sound which makes it easier to watch videos recorded on the mobile device through a home theater system. The camera also uses a Carl Zeiss lens and the Nokia N8 comes with an onboard video editing app coupled with face detection. Memory for the N8 also shouldn’t be a hassle as the Nokia smartphone comes with built-in 16GB memory, which is expandable to 48GB through the phone’s MicroSD slot.

The Nokia N8 will be out in the third quarter and current pricing is €370 (about £320).
